Great instructors that pay attention to the smallest details.

Moving back to AZ in 2015, I reached out to many self-defense instructors looking for details on their program. Because I lived in a small town a few hours away, I didn't get many responses. Troy was one of the few who responded and actually read what I had written. I visited Troy and was impressed with what I saw and signed up for several hours of private training. I learned a great deal from Troy. He was patient with my many questions and took time to explain my often naive questions. If he didn't have another client after me, we often went over my allotted time just talking about everything from self-defense to philosophy He was open to different points of view. He didn't have a cookie-cutter approach. As an example, I grew up with flat feet and spent a lot of time walking in furrows working on a farm growing up. I cannot keep my balance holding my feet straight. As I have taken many sets of trainings over the years (physical, firearm, blade) and have gotten into arguments with instructors because I wasn't able to point my feet in a certain direction or stand the way they wanted. These other instructors had a cookie cutter approach - if you didn't fit into their mold, so much worse for you. I never had a problem with Troy. I explained to him my physical limitations. Stability, Balance, and Power Generation are key things with Troy. Stand in the manner that gives you those things even if it looks funny to others and go from there. A welcomed response.

They took the time to not only walk through the moves but also underscored the importance of getting them right. Great real-world practical training, Troy and team truly offer training that is grounded in reality.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first class shows the student why what we do is better by not only explaining the reasons but also demonstrating in real time against an unwilling opponent. Although the first class is free, the student will leave with a useable skill set which is to throw three very fast, very hard strikes in under a second and to actively defend a barrage of random punches.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Troy Coe, RDT's creator trains every instructor personally to ensure a consistant message be relayed as well as to maintain consistant and proper technique no matter which instructor you end up training with.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Pricing is determined not only by which instructor you work with but by which type of instruction you prefer, private or semi-private. Semi-private classes are limited to 2-6 students per one instructor and private instruction is limited to one student per instructor. There is a decrease in the cost per class under the semi-private option and each intructor charges a certain amount per class depending on their level of experience.

What types of students have you worked with?

Anyone interested in learning how to protect themselves and their family and friends when the unthinkable happens and rules are not in play.
