Voice Lessons With Stephanie Wright
About
Hello, I'm Stephanie! I teach beginning to advanced voice lessons and beginning to intermediate piano. I have students of all ages and love helping them on their musical journeys. Whether you are just starting out or want to reconnect to your musical interests, I am here to help!
In addition to maintaining a full teaching schedule, I sing at weddings and special events throughout Southern California, serve as the soprano section leader at Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, and am a member of several choirs and a cappella groups.
As a veteran vocal coach, I have trained singers of all ages and abilities. There is always something new to be learned and I help my students discover and unlock their talent. The voice is fostered through the use of vocal exercises and learning proper technique. I find that beginning piano lessons are excellent for those too young to begin studying voice or those that want to supplement their vocal studies.
I look forward to discussing potential teaching opportunities with you very soon!
Music, and singing specifically, is my ultimate passion. It brings me so much joy when I can share this incredible art form with my students and help them foster their own unique talents.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson is an opportunity for me to assess your ability and see if we will be compatible working together. I will ask you about any past or current musical experience and what your goals are from voice instruction. I will share some anatomy fundamentals that pertain to singing and then hear you vocalize with several warm-ups. I will determine your vocal range and let you know my assessment toward the end of the lesson. If you decide to continue, the next few lessons will likely be spent learning about vocal health and technique and then we will eventually delve into you singing an actual song where that technique can be applied.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I continually engage with fellow voice teachers over multiple platforms to learn new techniques and maintain my knowledge base. I also attend seminars and intensives throughout the year to expand my abilities and share that knowledge with my students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons in my home office are:
$45 for 30 minutes
$60 for 45 minutes
$75 for 1 hour
How did you get started teaching?
I actually began teaching in college. Local residents would come to the music school in search of teachers and I found my first students that way! I then taught at several music schools in the area before I began my full-time studio in 2015.
What types of students have you worked with?
My youngest student ever was 3.5 years old but he was a piano student! I prefer a minimum age of 10 years old for voice students so I can discuss some anatomy of the voice. Before then, I strongly encourage piano lessons so they can learn some theory and learn how to read music. I love working with high school students, especially those preparing for musical or college auditions. I also really enjoy working with adults because I can speak technically about the voice in a way I cannot with younger students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently started recording with a vocal quartet I am a part of and we will be releasing some music videos in the next few months!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you are comfortable with the teacher. You will be sharing such a personal part of you, your voice! Voice lessons can be somewhat abstract since the instrument is "inside" so make sure the teacher you work with effectively communicates what they want from you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. Am I generally healthy and feel my voice is prepared to "work out" during my voice lessons?
2. Am I prepared to commit to practicing regularly?
3. Am I ready to commit to regularly scheduled lessons?
4. Do I need to be prepared for a specific audition or event or am I interested in long-term lessons?
