About
It is a self defense group class for both children and adults. I have been teaching at this location since 1989. And it is a longest lasting class at the Ambrose Recreation Center. I and the class have recognized and awarded by the public instruction of the state of California. Check "www.shorinjimtdiablo.com"
I have been instructing how to save oneself from the potential troble and dangerous situations. I will be happy when I hear from members who managed and got away from the incidents with the tips and techniques.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I instruct all new members from step one hands-on and teach the most important foundations. The class provides simulated attacks to learn the most effective techniques until the body learns as it reflects.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have earned a 7th degree black belt with Shorinji Kempo and was elected as an International instructor who can teach at the training camps and seminars. I also served as a North American Shorinji Kempo Federation board member. And served as the United States of America Representative to the World Shorinji Kempo Organization.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
My passion is teaching, and it became real as we moved to our current location in 1987. It took me two years to find a place to offer the class. Since then, a handful of other martial arts classes came into the Ambrose program, and all disappeared. Now, this class is the longest offered at the Ambrose.
What types of students have you worked with?
I teach 5 years old to senior people. No preparation is necessary to start learning the Self-defense. As long as you desire to learn, the class is there for you to save yourself.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We have just had an In-House Tournament to show their skills to family members. The category included forms in solo and pair formats. And self-defense sparing.
We were requested to offer a self-defense class at the Thermo Fisher company in Pleasanton on 9/27/18. Self-defense should be learned by everyone in society these days.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The training will benefit in both physical and mental cultivations. No matter how smoothly one can move in class, it might not work if one neglects to train one's mental strength. We balance both areas.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Goal setting. How much do you want to train for self-defense?
