About

I offer a complete music education based on the study of piano. All elements including note and rhythm reading, piano technique, sight-reading, listening skills, music theory, proper posture and hand position, the role of the fingers, wrists, and arms in creating a beautiful tone, effective practice strategies, repertoire, and performance skills are covered.

I teach all styles of music, all levels from beginning through advanced, and ages 5 to adult. I am an active member of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) and the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), both of which offer many performance opportunities for students (both children and adults) including recitals, festivals, competitions, and evaluations.

I have used many different piano methods over the years, and I have taken the best aspects of each one to develop my own very effective method. With careful and consistent practice, students learn quickly and thoroughly and can experience the joy of making music while they learn.

I offer students choices in the selection of repertoire because I want them to enjoy the music they play so that they are motivated to practice. Students can have fun and enjoy the process as they learn.

I love working with young children and seeing them progress and grow in music at their own pace. Every student learns differently, so my job is to discover their unique learning style, and help them find their own path to learning.

I have over 50 years of teaching and performing experience, and I have had many award-winning students. The study of music is one of the most important aspects of your child's education, and should be highly valued.

Over the past year, the teacher Noelle has had a profound impact on my 6-year-old sons piano learning experience, and I couldnt be more satisfied with her teaching. I wholeheartedly recommend her to all prospective students and parents.
From the very beginning, she has demonstrated an exceptional ability to connect with children and create a positive and engaging learning environment. Her patience and understanding have ignited a deep interest in piano within the young learners. I have witnessed firsthand how she skillfully adapts her teaching methods to suit their age and learning styles, making each lesson both productive and enjoyable.
I particularly appreciate her dedication to fostering a strong foundation in music theory alongside practical skills. Her well-structured lessons strike the perfect balance between technical exercises, sight-reading, and exploration of musical pieces. It is evident that she possesses a deep knowledge of music theory, and her ability to simplify complex concepts greatly facilitates the childrens understanding.
Moreover, her passion for music shines through in every interaction. Her enthusiasm is infectious, motivating the young learners to practice and strive for excellence. The personal attention she gives to each student, tailoring the curriculum to their individual needs and goals, truly sets her apart as an exceptional teacher.
Furthermore, her communication skills are excellent. She keeps parents informed of their childs progress and provides constructive feedback that enables us to support their learning at home. Her openness to addressing any concerns or questions fosters a strong partnership between the teacher, parents, and students, ensuring the best possible musical education.
Lastly, I must commend her professionalism and punctuality. She consistently arrives prepared and maintains a high standard of professionalism throughout. Her dedication to punctuality makes scheduling lessons effortless and convenient for families.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Mrs. Tinturin to anyone seeking an exceptional piano teacher. Her passion for music, personalized approach, and ability to inspire young learners make her an invaluable asset in the realm of piano instruction. Thank you for the positive impact you have had on my sons musical journey. We are fortunate to have found such a remarkable teacher.

It was our good fortune to find Noelle Chompinsky Tinturin as a piano teacher for my two daughters for over 7 years. Noelle has a comprehensive knowledge of music, is very supportive, and has lovely performance skills herself that inspire her students. After training with Noelle, my daughter, Natalie, at 14 years old, was able to perform her own solo full concert with confidence.
I believe that if lessons do not provide a strong foundation that includes theory, technique, interpretation, and performance skills necessary to truly excel in music, you will lose precious time and money. I highly recommend Noelle as a piano teacher to provide the invaluable gift of a music that will last a lifetime!

    Frequently asked questions

First, I evaluate how much the student already knows about playing the piano and reading music. If the student is starting from the beginning, I show them the layout of the keyboard and start them off learning the letter names of the keys, the finger numbers, the note values, and then give them a five-finger exercise to determine their physical strength and coordination. Then they start learning how to read music.
My fees for weekly lessons are as follows: 30 minute lessons: $240 per month (recommended for young beginners) 45 minute lessons: $3000 per month (recommended for adult beginners and late-elementary to early-intermediate level children) 60 minute lessons: #360 per month (recommended for late-intermediate and advanced level students)
My teacher, who was an extraordinary pianist specializing in sight-reading and chamber music, showed me how to start beginners with the basics, and as I taught more and more, I developed my teaching skills and my own method and style of teaching.
I have worked successfully with students of all ages from 4 to 88, and with all capabilities, from the most naturally gifted to students with physical and learning disabilities.
I get many calls for music lessons, and I am often astonished that the only question I am asked is “How much do you charge?” While this may be a factor in choosing a teacher, there are other very important issues. If cost is the only criterion, and you choose a poorly trained or inexperienced teacher, you may be wasting your money and many years of your time developing bad habits and serious gaps in your training. Be sure to inquire about: Musical background and training How much teaching experience the teacher has had What style(s) of music she teaches What is her method or approach in teaching? Is he an experienced performer himself? Does she offer student recitals, and how often? Does he work well with children and/or adults? Does she train students in sight-reading, ear training, and especially, theory? Can he prepare students for competition, college, and careers in music?
