Mr. John’s Music Studio
About
I offer disciplined lessons that allow a student to master the instrument in a short period of time. It is the same training that you would need to become a professional if you desire. All students will learn to read music at the same time they learn their instrument. I am a lifetime musician and have been teaching piano and guitar in San Jose in my home for the past 20 years. I have graduated almost 100 students through the years.
I enjoy watching my students develop their musical ability for the instrument I am teaching and also a general musicianship they carry with them as they start to play other instruments.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I have a free consultation to find out what level of experience the student has with music in general and with the instrument they would like to learn.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I learned piano, guitar, and music theory at a young age and wrote/performed since that time. As I began to teach I learned what works and what doesn't and became a better musician myself.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge a monthly subscription amount of $120 for 4 1/2 hour lessons. 45 minute lessons are available upon request for a fee proportional to the half-hour rate.
How did you get started teaching?
A family friend requested that I teach their child and after 20 years, I am still at it.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages from 5 - 40 and many nationalities and the beginner to intermediate level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I performed all original songs at a house party in my home.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Buy a professional instrument and ask the teacher what method of instruction they use.
