I appreciate having a special rapport with each of my students.  I'm known for my patience and flexibility, and for making the lessons enjoyable!  In addition to enjoyment, I stress proper technique, beauty of sound, and musicality.  We often play duets and/or have accompaniment for more fullness of sound.

Thank you for your interest in hiring me as your piano teacher. The piano is a wonderful instrument to introduce you to the world of music. I started taking lessons when I was six years old. Seven years later, I began teaching my neighbors children at her request. Thirty years later, I am still teaching piano. Mostly, I have taught private lessons.  Some of my students have gone on to be church pianists and piano teachers (much like me). Others have become jazz pianists and composers. Some play just for the pure enjoyment and relaxation that the instrument brings. A few have entered music competitions where, proudly I write, they hav ... View Profile

Music is discipline, joy, and beauty.

Jacqueline Watson · Chula Vista, CA

Tell us about your passion for teaching

I've aged beautifully and with happiness due to my profession involving music.

I began lessons when I was 4 with the 1st graduate of Juilliard. I followed my experience and passion throughout college (Ivy League, Mount Holyoke) then studied piano in New York. At 24 I moved to CA, met my husband, and continued my career, performing, teaching, loving all manner of musical genres.

I'm still teaching and have just been privy to 3 graduates who have studied with me for 10 years and are beautiful pianists. I teach the classical repertoire with supplemental material from our century to study the harmonic innovations and sequences.

Students must play all styles, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary to satisfy the steady development of musical development. I do hope to enlarge my studio and give back to my students the ultimate beauty, discipline and joy of music, from its beginning to the ultimate.
