About
I earned a Doctorate in Music Education from the University of Southern California, and am a member of the national and state Music Teacher's Associations. Over the years, I've taught every age, from 4 to 72, and everything in between. My students learn to love music, and many made it a college major or professional career.
I love teaching music. It is my favorite thing to do! I am currently redesigning the studio website, but you can check the studio out on the Facebook page at Crown Music Studios.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For beinngers, I like to make sure they know their left hand from their right; that when you read, you go across the page from left to right, and then down the page. I also like to ask which kinds of books they like to read - it helps me choose the best method book.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a Doctorate in Music Education from USC; was awarded Most Outstanding Student in my Master's program at USC; and was on the Dean's Advisory Board in my undergraduate program at the University of Arizona. I am a member of both the National and State Music Teacher's Associations, and have been teaching music since 1993.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $60 per hour, and $30 for half an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I was asked to teach children in my undergraduate program from a college class in 1993.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught students of every age - from 4 to 72 - and everything in between. Some of my students play for enjoyment, while others have made music their major in college, or centered their careers around music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The studio event of the year is our Christmas party. It started out as a Christmas caroling party, where the students and parents would go door-to-door, and we would sing for the neighbors. But the party has become so large, now everyone brings a potluck and stands around the piano and sings all night. I've been told it isn't Christmas without our studio Christmas party!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To make sure both personalities and goals match up.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
My own students' questions vary from week to week, but all students go off the Practice Checklist, so their questions typically stem from there.
