About
I teach beginning bluegrass banjo, clawhammer banjo, ukulele, guitar, and bluegrass mandolin on Google Meet. I've taught music for over a decade.
My unique teaching style combines personal creative coaching with teaching music. I've also been featured by best selling author Jen Sincero for my photo featuring her book.
My online store specializes in traditional and bluegrass books that may be difficult to find elsewhere.
I love helping people realize that they can indeed make their own music and sound great in doing so! I love the fact I'm helping people in getting their muse going thru their chosen instrument.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A phone call in the beginning so both the student and I can see how well we work together and most important, I can see where the student is at playing wise. And to see what direction they are wanting to go in. I do require students to have a certain tutorial that I have them work from (usually by Wayne Erbsen) in addition to my own TABS.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Lessons at McCabes Guitar shop is where most of my musical training took place. I also taught myself from books and videos.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
One (1) 45 min lesson a week: $32 per lesson= $32 a week.
If you pay for four (4) lessons in one payment, I'll give you a 10% discount.
I also require a 24 hr notice if a student cannot be at their lesson on any given week.
I take payment thru Venmo, Zelle, and Buy Me A Coffee.
How did you get started teaching?
I wanted to keep the tradition of passing on what I've learned musically. I think this is very important. I started by teaching mandolin, then spread to banjo. And I usually always learn something from my students!
What types of students have you worked with?
Usually adults 30- 50. I do require that students are open to learning songs that are new to them.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be aware that in my pricing I'm not trying to fleece them. The standard rate for a music lesson is actually between $40- $60 per lesson, and I'm charging below that due to the fact I know many people are struggling. Society has in large part programmed the general public that lessons should be nearly free, not taking into account that my dedication to the instrument, my expertise, and my time is indeed worth something.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time can I truly devote to practicing the lessons on a weekly basis? Am I ready for this commitment? Am I willing to make my lessons a priority?
