About
I'm a university-trained pianist and former professional keyboardist. I've performed with numerous musical groups and artists, including Sheryl Crow. I've taught piano for over 20 years.
I welcome all levels from beginner to advanced. And I teach all styles of music, from classical to pop, depending on the goals of each student.
I help my students become excellent pianists by focusing on technic, theory and artistry.. as well as effective practice skills.
i love playing and teaching piano, and have a passion for helping others learn how to play well. I find great joy in helping my students develop their skills, knowledge and love for the piano.
It's particularly rewarding to see the sense of accomplishment and pride my students exhibit as they attain progressive levels of mastery.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually meet with my new students, before the first lesson, in order to talk about their questions, concerns, goals and any musical training they may have already received.
I then develop a teaching plan and decide on an appropriate coursebook, and theory or technic workbooks, depending on their experience and goals. I also pull in additional music to build their repertoire.
I work to help my students progress as fast as their aptitude and practice will allow, while being careful to build a solid foundation of skills and knowledge. I place special emphasis on teaching them how to practice effectively and efficiently, so that they get the most out of the time they invest.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
i began studying with renowned classical pianist Myron Myers at Arkansas State University while I was only a sophomore in high school. I went on to earn Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Missouri, Columbia, also doing independent study with Marilyn Hanna, Professor of Piano at Stevens College. I subsequently performed professionally for several years, as a studio keyboardist, as well as performing live for two years with pop artist Sheryl Crow. In recent years, I also worked with Robert Watson, Professor of Piano at Cal State, Fullerton.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing varies depending on whether the lessons are held in my home studio or the distance traveled to the student's home.
