About

Thank you for expressing interest in our Judo club.

We hold Judo practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6:00-9:30 pm. Our Juniors practice from 6:00-7:30 pm. However, the younger and less experienced Juniors are excused from practice at 7:00 pm. The more advanced and older Juniors continue until 7:30 pm. Our Seniors practice from 7:30-9:30 pm. We have a mix of experienced black belts, lower ranking belts and white belts.

We practice traditional Kodokan Judo, the Judo practiced in Japan at the Kodokan in Tokyo where it was originally founded. We focus on the practicing the basic Judo throwing techniques while instilling discipline, respect, integrity and other Judo moral values in their training to create better citizens in Judo and in life. If you would like to enroll, I recommend visiting our Dojo and watch our workout and have any questions answered before you might register.

Here is the breakdown in our fees;

New member registration fee-$50 each

This is a one-time registration fee for new members only for administration and registration.

Tuition-the tuition is $240 for the first six months. In March, 2017, you will begin to pay for every quarter or three months, $120/quarter.

USJF membership-$70 each

This is an annual membership required by our association, United States Judo Federation, for all members practicing Judo, attending clinics or seminars and competing in Judo tournaments.

Judogis-We carry a supply of Judogis for our members. They are $65 and up depending on size.

I have attached our enrollment form and USJF membership application. Please complete the enrollment form and membership application. On the application, for the "Club/Dojo" write "Sawtelle Judo Dojo." For the "Yudanshakai" (Black Belt Association), please write "Nanka Judo." You may pay the membership application by credit card. For all of other fees, tuition, registration fee, Judogis, belts, etc., please pay by cash or check made out to "Sawtelle Judo Dojo."

When you come to practice, please arrive on-time. Please bring a gym bag, water bottle or other drink and beach sandals. When you are off the Judo mat, everyone is required to have their footwear on so they do not track dirt back onto the mats, especially from the restroom. Please bring your beach sandals. For Judo practice, you must wear Judo gis and not Ju Jutsu gis.

If you have any other questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can find us at Facebook, Yelp, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram under Sawtelle Judo Dojo. We look forward to meeting you in person.

Best Regards,
