About
My name is Steve Hong. I am a World Taekwondo Federation Certified 5th Degree Black, trained under my father Grandmaster Soonho Hong for 25 years and have been teaching Taekwondo for 10 years.
My service stands out in that I carefully process everyone I teach individually, in order to maximize the benefits for each student. I will pay attention to what you desire to achieve through martial arts, physically, emotionally, and mentally, and then tailor make your lessons to help you achieve your specific goals.
You can expect to have increased physical strength, speed, coordination, flexibility, and stamina, as well as learn all the basic, intermediate, and advanced kicking techniques of Taekwondo through our training.
I also believe in implementing the correct amount of challenge with my students. The training will not be so easy to the point where you are bored, but it also will not be so difficult to the point where you feel overwhelmed. The pacing is done at a level just slightly beyond your comfort zone, where you can still be pushed to achieve your maximum potential, one session at a time.
I have been training and teaching Taekwondo for the past 25 years, due to it having been passed down in my family. My father, Soon-Ho Hong is an 8th Degree Black Belt, and my Grandfather is 9th Degree, and I naturally began my training as a child.
What I enjoy about Taekwondo that I like to share and pass on to the students that I teach is how it truly shows you what you are capable of, both physically and mentally. Martial Arts is a process of self-discovery. I have enjoyed the challenges that come with Taekwondo, including the competition, the teaching, the training, the performances, and of course, the mental training that is required to overcome the obstacles in your own mind.
I find that Taekwondo has influenced me not just physically, but as a character and as a person. I would be honored and thankful to pass on that knowledge to future students!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with children, I teach them the value of respect towards themselves and towards other people such as parents, friends, and relatives. I instill the lesson of respect through proper attitude and posture during class times, and deliver fun and engaging ways to communicate with the children.
With adults, I teach the same values, as respect is the underlying principle of Taekwondo. However, I also pay attention to what each adult student's personal goals and desires and what they wish to achieve specifically with Taekwondo. Whether it is improved physical condition, improved confidence and discipline, or both, I assess the position of the student and plan my lessons accordingly.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am 5th Degree World Taekwondo Federation (Kukkiwon) Certified Black Belt.
I have taught at SH Hong Taekwondo Academy as Head Master for 10 years.
