Theresa’s love of performing started early while she was growing up in the Bay Area. Her training started at age seven when she joined the San Francisco Girl’s Chorus. Her first role was as Amaryllis in the Music Man and she quickly fell in love with musical theatre. Her earliest roles include Maggie in A Chorus Line, Mary Jane in Big River, Chava in Fiddler on the Roof, and Sally in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.
Theresa left home at the age of 18 to attend The Boston Conservatory where she majored in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in dance. She performed in summer stock every summer and had the pleasure of playing Winnie Tate in the first regional production of Annie Get Your Gun starring Tom Wopat, as well as spending summers performing in Maine, New Hampshire, and Michigan.
Upon graduation, Theresa joined the National Tour of Crazy for You as Tess, Polly u/s. She was then cast in the Los Angeles premiere of White Christmas at the Pantages Theatre. Regional highlights include both Peggy and Anytime Annie in 42nd Street, Millie and Miss Dorothy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Carrie in Carousel, Grizabella in Cats, Sandy in Grease, and Portia in Cinderella.
In 2009 Theresa participated in L.A’s Next Great Stage Star. An elite panel of 13 Broadway and Los Angeles Theatre Industry professionals and 600 audience members judged 18 competitors chosen from over 300 auditions. Theresa won the competition and went on to produce her own cabaret titled “Confessions of a Stalk-A-Holic”.
Theresa's has spent the last five years teaching voice and begining piano to students in the South Bay. Her sutdents have gone on to attend top Conservatory programs and star in school and community theatre shows.
Theresa teaches music in public elementary schools to student in k-5th grades. She also serves as music director for numerous school shows ever year. Some of her favorites include Shrek jr, Suessical, Mulan jr., Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. She is the choreographer for the elite preforming group "Dream Team 2" with Starting Arts and teaches musical theatre classes at Childrens Musical Theatre of San Jose.
I love when students remind me of the passion that I once had for music. I still love to sing and play but life happens :) and it’s nice to teach kids and young adults who are excited to learn and excited to explore new techniques and ideas.
