Kimy Brennan Music & Worship Lessons
About
I teach both traditional music lessons in Acoustic Guitar & Piano, as well as Worship music lessons in Acoustic Guitar, Piano, & Vocals. The goal by the end of each lesson is for my students to have opportunities to learn something new, work on a previous skill, ask questions, & decide what direction they'd like to continue to go in. My hope is that students become self-sufficient after adequate time & are able to continue to learn new things on their own.
I am an urban youth worker with a heart to see underpriviledged students have an opportunity at a future in the arts.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first lesson consists of assessing where the student is at as well as getting to know what their passions and interests are. From there, I like to give a practical first step & homework assignment to satisfy the passion in them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Currently finishing my Associates in Vocal Performance at Long Beach City College.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Generally speaking, a 30-minute traditional music lesson goes for about $25. An hour lesson is $50.
For worship music lessons, 30-minute lessons can be between $25-$30 depending on needed materials for the instrument/lesson-type. Hour lesson can go for $50-$60.
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching for me started in the church as a worship leader. I began teaching my students that I work with in our youth group. They asked me how to play guitar or how to play a certain piano piece for school and I would sit with them for 20-70 minutes at a time going over whatever they asked about. I loved it right off the bat and knew I wanted to do this with my time.
What types of students have you worked with?
From elementary school to high school students. Urban, suburban, low-income, middle-income, & everything in between. Students with busy schedules & students with nothing but school in their schedules.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Playing at the Pasadena Convention Center. Such an awesome opportunity for my band! Also, singing with Third Day at the Nokia Theatre in LA. Incredible people & moments of learning new things!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that fits YOUR personality. Not everyone will teach, or be willing to arrange lessons to fit your learning style/personality.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Scheduling... find a day that you can consistently commit to.
Are you ready to take a new project (learning an instrument) on that may take up 5-10 hours of your week?
What is your learning style?
