That moment a student looks over at you and their eyes swell with the thrill of sudden understanding-that moment is the reason I teach. I love seeing my students up on stage and achieving their goals, but they can't stay with me forever! So, it's those moments I see them understand the concepts and I know they can confidently take those skills with them for the rest of their career. That moment is pure joy.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All new voice students complete an 8 week "Boot Camp." Come as you are! Don't be nervous about where you are at vocally. Let us take care of that! The Boot Camp is a breathing and body intensive so you feel confident and powerful as we start you in vocal exercises and songs. I've been teaching this intro Boot Camp for over a decade and every time a new student completes their fist 8 weeks I am still amazed at the transformation. Voice is a long-term commitment and challenging journey. Achieve healthy holistic power and confidence!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Nicole's love of teaching began while studying voice under her vocal instructor and vocal mentor Sarah Fleming (graduate of Juilliard & singer for the New York City Opera).
After her years of tutelage with Miss Fleming, Nicole began to teach private and group voice classes in San Diego. She later moved on to studied Music & Vocal Performance at Azusa Pacific University. With APU Nicole was awarded vocal scholarships and was the Lead Soprano for the University Choir & Orchestra. Under her vocal instructor and head of the Vocal Department Brenda Reinebach, Nicole also taught dance performance classes & directed fully staged Broadway reviews for music majors.
Nicole believes that if you are willing to work hard, anyone can sing! Her true passion is realized when she can watch her students soar!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
All studio members with a weekly slot receive a rate of $75 per 50 minute vocal session. Drop in students coming in for a coaching or having an instructor come for coaching in a recording studio is $90 an hour.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students have ranged from classical vocal performance majors at universities, to Broadway tours, to signed punk rock bands! It's quite a fun range. Singing freely with the body helps all vocal and style types!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you have a teacher you trust and are ready to give 100 percent to! In any voice lesson, you do strange exercises and try new things with your body and voice. If you are uncomfortable or doubt your teacher, you will only do a percentage of what your teacher is asking and you will be so frustrated with the results! If you like your new teacher give them a few months and give yourself over to the methodology. Voice lessons can be extremely rewarding if you let go and embrace all the new levels body and vocal freedom. Find a teacher you trust, dedicate yourself, and you will not only become an accomplished singer, but overcome challanges and learn more about yourself.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself where your really want to be in 5 years or more. No goal is too crazy or out of reach! If you have a dream, share it with your teacher! If you are willing to dedicate the time, I believe no goal is unrealistic. Don't let age or previous training hinder you! Time goes by so quickly! What do you wish you had started 2 years ago? Where could you have been now? What could you accomplish in a few short years? Never give up no matter what you have been told!
