Frequently asked questions

Getting to know my students well is most important to set the goals realistically and structure the curriculum accordingly.

Part of this process is for me to understand, how much experience the students already have (if any), and what they wold like to be able to play in what time period.

Once we have evaluated this, I’ll explain how to best approach their goals and set the expectations right.

There is no magic pill - studying piano needs some dedication and discipline. But everything can be done in a fun and enjoyable way - the secret is to create new habits and form a routine, so that even when sometimes there is a lack motivation, we can still work through it without too much hassle. The next day will look much better again ;)

I’ve studied seven years as a full time music student at the Vienna Conservatory in Austria, graduating with a concert diploma for jazz piano performance, and a masters degree in music education.

I’ve begun my professional career as musician at the age of sixteen, and have since performed with many international jazz artists around the world.

From 1997 to 2007 I’ve worked as a private piano teacher in the Los Angeles county area.

Today, I m not on the road so much anymore, and look forward to resuming my work as an instructor again.

A student should feel comfortable with their teacher. A teacher should be a friend and mentor, understanding of the needs of the student - adn very patient and guiding.

Lessons should be tailor-made for the student - there is not a one-way for all.

I believe there should be a fairly strong desire to learn an instrument first, since it requires some time, energy and dedication.

Can you commit to a weekly lesson?

Can you dedicate some time every day for practicing?

Where do you practice your instrument / what time in the day?

Is you family/room mates supportive of your playing at home?
