I possess a Masters of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Redlands. I teach classical piano, music theory, music history, and accompanying. I have experience teaching at the collegiate and high school levels and maintain a private studio of students ages 4-60. I customize my teaching to suit my students’ needs and believe that anyone can play piano regardless of previous experience.
I love helping my students express themselves and learn more about their interests. I have learned a lifetime of information working with a wide range of ages and abilities.
Karen is excellent when explaining new concepts. She is also very patient with a beginning student (me).
Karen has fantastic rapport with students of all ages. She truly cares about every individual and will go above and beyond to make sure they are learning their best.
Karen is an excellent teacher. She’s very patient and through. My daughter enjoys going to lessons and has learnt so much in two years.
There are many things I love about working with Karen. For starters she is an extremely skilled and talented pianist. She genuinely cares about my son and completely personalizes his lessons to meet his needs and interests. She’s very flexible and accommodating when it comes to scheduling lessons. She sees my son’s potential and knows just how to push him. I just can’t say enough about her. She’s an amazing teacher and an all around good person.
If the student has had previous experience, I ask them to play me whatever they last worked on and I will ask them technical questions that increase in difficulty. I then work to fill in any holes in order to help the student thrive musically.
If the student has not had any experience in music, I ask them about their goals so that I can customize our lessons.
I have a Masters of Music in Piano Performance and I graduated with a 4.0. I also have a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance and graduated magna cum laude.
