We love to share our love of music and art. Rather than giving lessons, we love to create art and music together with you. We do this through private lessons as well as group classes that give the opportunity to use what you learn in your lessons.
We are also the home of the Placer County Youth Orchestra

We love all the aspects. Private lessons prepare young musicians to make music with others. The private lessons give students the basis to create excellence from the ground up and then the group experience makes it all come together to becoming a full musician.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will do an intake lesson. We assess the student and try to match the right student with the teacher. This is no cost.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
***Margie Hartung has played violin since third grade, and piano and guitar since 6th grade. She has taught music lessons privately for 30 years. As a youth, she was a member of the Los Angeles Jr. Philharmonic, Sacramento Youth Symphony and Camellia Symphony. As a Music Major at Western Baptist College (now Corban) she studied private voice, violin and traveled with the touring choir for two years. Until 2008 she was the Orchestra Director in the Eureka School District and for Horizon Charter School for 12 years, but stopped to restructure and create the Placer County Youth Orchestra, a full symphonic 60 member youth orchestra in Placer County. In addition to the Youth Orchestra, Margie teaches privately, is instrumental music director at Live Oak Waldorf School in Applegate. She also directs the PCYO Intermediate and Basic String orchestras. Margie enjoys playing with the Auburn Symphony and Fifth Street String Ensemble as well as playing her violin and conducting for local musicals. She loves teaching and sharing the language of music with others.
