Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Knowing that my approach is usually quite different than the most teachers today. The first lesson is an interview for me and for them to interview me. Parents are required to be present at the first lesson. If after the first lesson, we decide to for more lessons... at request that they give a serious effort for at least 2 months. From there I put a focus on the performance aspect ... encouraging the student to believe that any is possible if they decide to work for it.
Additionally, I have received numerous requests from those interested taking piano lessons who do not have a piano or a keyboard to begin with. My recommendation is to get a keyboard or piano BEFORE you contact me. If you desire help in that regard from me, then say so in the inquiry and leave a number to contact you. I have spent time with quite a few prospective students in helping them to get a keyboard or piano and eventually they either decided to take lessons from someone else OR decided they really didn't want to learn afterall. In either case, it was a waste of my time and credits.
