Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We understand the initial anxieties of new students getting started in martial arts. We always suggest a new student to participate in a trial/orientation session. This helps them to feel more at ease and understand the basics to join in a regular class. There is no cost for these trial/orientation sessions but an appointment is necessary. 6194299122.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master Larry Dercole has over 45 years experience teaching kids, teens and adults. He has organized many after-school programs at local elementary schools and other institutions both nationally and internationally. He is a board certified international master instructor 7th DAN and member of the Workd Tang Soo Do Association. He has served for over 30 years as a WTSDA Board member and a Regional Director.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our request for pricing seems to always be one of the first questions we get. Although our prices are more reasonable that most (we are told) we don't share pricing details until an interested student has had an opportunity to try out a FREE class or two. It is important to demonstrate a little about the training experience to the student so that a more educated decision can be made. A student must have commitment in order to achieve a goal.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with all students. Kids 4 years and up, teens adults and seniors too. With a desire to learn and participate anybody can enjoy the many benefits of the martial arts.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
As part of a large martial arts family, we enjoy our regional martial arts tournaments which allow students of all ages and rank levels to participate in competition. Our region is an organization of affiliated studios in Southern California. We also are host to the annual USA/Mexico Friendship Tournament which is held in Chula Vista, California.
And of course we must mention the tremendous experience of the World Championship that students may participate in. This event is held every two years in Greensboro, North Carolina.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There can be many good instructors and programs available, however, it is important to try it out first. Maybe one type of martial arts suits a student better than another. Or perhaps one instructor suits the student better than another. There also can be a benifit of being part of a big martial art family.
Our studio is a member of the World Tang Soo Do Association. Students earn rank, recognition and can participate in one of the most important martial arts organizations in the world. With schools throughout the USA and 30 other countries, students can easily transfer to other affiliated studios if they relocate.
