I have been singing professionally and continue to do so for 50 years. My primary focus is classical singing, however, I have sung a number of leading roles in Musical theater. I am most interested and people gaining more confidence and singing and in their skills to do so. I have a good rapport with my students and enjoy watching them learn.
Discovering ways to teach is fun, challenging and interesting. I have been trained and various innovative ways to aid people an expression and learning. I especially like joining my students together sing for each other and a workshop or student recital, sometimes online these days. Since I have a theatrical background, I also occasionally have them wear a costume as a way to emphasize the character they are portraying.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Given the current world health circumstances, I teach exclusively online. I typically warm a student up with scales on zoom or Skype, whichever functions best. We then decide upon a song or two depending upon a student's experience. Generally initally, I suggest that we use a song that I can play with my intermediate piano skills which I record and forward to a student for playback during lessons. I attempt o be as supportive as possible and enjoy watching my students learn and gain confidence. I am classically trained, but open to various styles of singing. If a student advances we use pre-recorded accompaniments from online.
