Magic Violin
About
I teach violin in a variety of cultural contexts, with an intuitive approach to the musical theory needed to understand the instrument - I connect to the student's current musical understanding by structuring lessons around their musical preferences

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We begin with fundamental techniques of the violin : posture, bowing, left hand position.
From there, the student is acquainted with the basic harmonic structure of the strings on the instrument. We work on finding the alll-important 5th "fret" on each string, and progress from there to build an acquaintance with scales.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied with masters of the violin such as George Lammam from Lebanon, in private. Being largely self-taught, I can provide a first-hand perspective on using "tricks" to arrive at an understanding of technique, in a way that is more efficient than traditional teaching, while acknowledging the requisite milestones of proper playing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I begin at $40 per lesson, and I also apply a sliding scale for lower income students or group lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I started by teaching curious friends, and have since expanded to teaching among the public.
