Bernie loves what she does and it shows. She is always encouraging (without sacrificing accountability) and is devoted to personal care for each student.

My daughter and I have both enjoyed taking lessons with For the Luv of Piano. Our experience has been positive in that my daughter has thrived in exploring the piano and enjoys learning new songs and playing for family and friends. I too have benefited from the format and have returned to lessons after not taking for over 30 years.

Mrs. Ashby is such an encouraging, patient and engaging teacher. She captures her student’s attention during lessons and motivates them to try their best and keep pressing on even when they face challenges. My daughter was able to play songs right from the first lesson and absolutely loves Mrs Ashby and looks forward to her class each week! With Mrs Ashby guiding her, I am certain that piano will continue to be a part of my daughter’s life.

The style of lessons seems more suited to the type of learning kids do, and has been a successful way for my daughter to learn piano. The group lessons have also been a good way for cooperative learning and a good way for my daughter to see how to do something on the piano while Ms. Ashby teaches the other students.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

You're invited to attend a 1 hour Student Introductory Session about the remarkable breakthrough piano method that I teach called Simply Music.  You'll get a chance to ask questions and interview me so we can determine if it's a good fit.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm a Master Teacher with Simply Music.  I've been teaching for over 18 years.  I teach all aspects of this prograam including Foundation Levels, Accompaniment, Blues and Improv, Composition, and Reading.  I am well-skilled in Playing Based playing, meaning that I can teach students how to take music off the page, reverse engineer it into their hands to memorize it.  Then I help students build a repertoire of songs that they can play anytime, anywhere, and any place.
