About

As a retired elementary teacher (35 years), I have passion and expertise in working with children of all ages. I taught piano lessons part time after school for 10 years and then it became my retirement job with over 30 students enrolled in my studio when I lived in Virginia. I teach with patience and compassion, without the pressure to perform. Students progress and learn at their own pace. It’s a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere that produces music loving pianists. I have many references!

Linda has experience and expertise in working with children of many ages and abilities, and that comes across in her approach to teaching piano. Linda is encouraging without being pushy, her expectations are reasonable, and she is patient and kind. My children enjoyed their lessons with Linda very much, and they made a lot of progress with her.

My daughter was a student of Lindas for several years. She looked forward to her weekly lesson and was saddened when Linda moved away. Linda is patient and supportive and has a natural teaching ability. The lessons were sequential and thorough and my daughter made huge gains in her piano playing. She continues to talk about how much she misses Linda despite the fact that we have moved on to a new teacher. She connected well with my daughter and they formed an instant relationship. We continue to keep in touch with Linda, and send her videos of my daughters recitals. The new piano teacher made positive comments about her hand placement and technique. Ellie has developed a love of music and a desire to improve, and I credit Linda for her continued interest in piano. She is a phenomenal teacher and I highly recommend her!

Linda was such a wonderful piano teacher for my two kids. She has a great personality and is warm and friendly with kids. My daughter progressed from beginning to intermediate piano with Linda and my son was a beginner, but they both had great experiences in both learning how to play and with music theory.
Some highlights about Linda that my kids offered are: “She’s nice, she’s great at teaching technique, she’s helpful and always gives positive feedback.”

I have to thank Linda for the love that my kids have for music, specifically piano. She was kind, knew how to talk to kids, help them get inspired and remain focused. They were always looking forward to going to class, and had nothing but love for their teacher, Miss Linda.
More than a teacher, Linda was a friend. We still share the girls concert videos with her.

Frequently asked questions

I ask what they already know and what type of music they enjoy. They share whether they enjoy creating music or prefer songs in print. I generally start with a series called Piano Adventures for ages 5-12. My focus with beginners is on technique, scales and chords to build their foundation as they learn how to read music. Kids and parents comment on the fun lessons and how my reward system for practicing is very motivating.
