About
As a retired elementary teacher (35 years), I have passion and expertise in working with children of all ages. I taught piano lessons part time after school for 10 years and then it became my retirement job with over 30 students enrolled in my studio when I lived in Virginia. I teach with patience and compassion, without the pressure to perform. Students progress and learn at their own pace. It’s a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere that produces music loving pianists. I have many references!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask what they already know and what type of music they enjoy. They share whether they enjoy creating music or prefer songs in print. I generally start with a series called Piano Adventures for ages 5-12. My focus with beginners is on technique, scales and chords to build their foundation as they learn how to read music. Kids and parents comment on the fun lessons and how my reward system for practicing is very motivating.
