Certifications:
-Vocal Pedagogy certificate from the Institute for Vocal Advancement
-certificate in vocal health from VHE
-BFA in musical theatre from Penn State
I specialize in Musical Theatre technique, and am a professional actor (National Tours: Once, A Charlie Brown Christmas, BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State) as well as a voice teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. Students will learn how to find their mix/belt, while also training their legit voice. I also have experience in many genres such as folk, country, jazz, pop and rock. I specialize in working with young hopeful professionals applying for college programs or auditioning for summer programs. For younger students, the emphasis is on basic vocal technique and finding the fun!
I am extremely passionate about vocal health, and bringing Broadway quality technique to singers of all ages. I have figured out a way to be very effective teaching virtually to students I've never even met before. Here is a testimonial from a current student:
"I've been singing with Carrie for almost three months now and my voice has already changed so much. It feels so much stronger, easier, and healthier. Her lessons are fun, relaxed, and a little mind-blowing. She is incredibly specific, flexible and intuitive, and she caters each lesson to what I need that day."-Ksa C, Conservatory student
I received my BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State University, and have studied voice and worked as teaching apprentice/substitute teacher with Julliard trained Suzanne Darley. Acting credits include the National Tours of Once and a Charlie Brown Christmas, cruise ships, symphony solo performances, and many regional credits.
I love seeing progress in my students, and sharing the excitement of learning new things about their voice with them. I love teaching a combination of vocal technique and acting skills, to help students prepare their best performance possible.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will have an introductory lesson, where the student will prepare two contrasting cuts for me, or one song they love to sing. We will also go through an assesment scale. We will talk about their goals and what they're hoping to get out of their lessons, and I will answer any questions that they may have. I'll then start introducing new vocal exercises with them, and start working towards building their technique. Then, we will start talking about repertoire.
Of course, I will tailor each process to the student's needs, and believe in a highly individualized approach.
