I am classically-trained and hold a Bachelor of Music (from McGill University). I have extensive teaching experience and am an avid performer.
My music-learning philosophy aims to make music as accessible and fun! A holistic music-education embraces all genres and styles of learning; I find that our musical practices are most fulfilling when they are applicable to our daily lives in some way. I hope to help others find these connections, enrich their lives, and reach their goals. :)
I love working with others and getting to know their musical voice. It is incredibly rewarding to witness students having fun and expanding their knowledge. I love to work with people who enjoy playing music!
Caitlin’s lesson plans are very organized. I don’t have time to practice very long, so she has shown me ways to make my practice really count). My technique and intonation have improved and I feel more confident playing with well-rounded viola sound. Thanks for helping me become a better violist! Would definitely recommend :)
Very good teacher (exceeded my expectations for online classes). My technique has noticeably improved as my parents (who are musicians) have pointed out :) I feel so much more confident playing viola now and I Love her caring yet motivating teaching style <3 would definitely recommend!
I've been working with Caitlin for a couple of months now and can highly recommend her. When we started I had just finished writing and recording six songs. She's been very good about helping me improve the details of the recordings, particularly timing problems in my playing :-), as well as giving me direction on making the songs communicate more to the listener. Since I don't play violin or viola, I can't comment on that portion of her background but as far as musical knowledge and her ability to assist students is concerned, I'd say both are excellent.
Very knowledgeable about theory, patient, and encouraging. Caitlin is lovely to work with.
1) understand the students' relationship with music, / musical history, establish goals
2) set a template for reaching those goals; communicate schedule, structure
3) design a lesson plan tailored to students unique interests and abilities
