I have been teaching private piano lessons for over 20 plus years, have taught music in schools and am a local singer/songwriter that both performs locally and supports the artist community. My education and training includes the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and a Master’s Degree in the Arts. I also have taught guitar, voice, and ukulele.

My lessons are tailored to the goals of each student. If a student wants to read music and pursue a more traditional approach to their piano studies, we will work on sight reading, music theory, rhythm, and technique. If a student wants to play keys in a band, we will focus on learning to play lead on the piano which may also included improvisation, accompaniment, and various ways to play chords. There are a variety of musical pursuits, and I will do my best to meet the student where they are… this is the beauty of private instruction… lessons are personalized.

Over-all, I am a firm believer that music is to be enjoyed. I am not a big advocate of perfectionism. I do strive for excellence in my approach to musical endeavors, but I equally strive for creativity and joy. My philosophy of music is that music is for everybody, no matter what age and I hope to support each student on their musical journey.
