Michele Holland Piano & Voice Lessons
About
I give personalized attention to each student with a mix of theory, technique, improvisational skills and performance readiness. I teach in a classical style yet am open to the student's music of choice.I have a great rapport with beginners and intermediate students of all ages and enjoy the diversity and uniqueness of each one.
Music for me is about joy. My goal is to spread that joy through the learning of how to express it. I believe in the beauty, power and intelligence of music.
I love to see it when my students actually practice and keep progressing on their own initiative.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first find out about their experience and what they know in general, then ask what they would like to learn. Depending on child or adult, a beginner usually starts off learning five finger scales to develop finger/hand/eye coordination.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a student of music since the age of 5. I had a nice variety of teachers over the years, and still taking workshops and learning. I started teaching beginners in 1985 and have learned quite a bit by teaching! One of the things I've learned is that everyone is different in their learning. I am always inspired by this.
I consider myself a musician in progress and continue to grow with my instrument.
