About
First of all, I love playing piano! I have played piano since I was in 5th grade, that's 60 years ago!! I love sharing my love for piano with students. My main style of interest teaching piano is in the area of popular and jazz. I especially enjoy playing and teaching improvisation to my students. Every student I work with has an individual lesson plan. I do not believe in the "one size fits all" method of teaching. It is definately a lot more work and preparation, but I believe it is worth it! I am a retired public school music teacher, having taught band, chorus, general music, technology and TV tech during my career. Presently I am playing and singing professionally in the surrounding area. Check me out on Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram and Soundcloud. My website is PhilLeonelliMusic.com
I thouroughly enjoy teaching piano and especially teaching piano virtually. I love the technology available to deliver quality insruction to my students all over the world! I especially enjoy watching and hearing my students progress as we work together to build confidence and music technique skills. My goal is to make learning piano an enyoyable (even fun) experience. I want my students to look forward to the next lesson!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I do offer a FREE first lesson/consultation to see if we have a student/teacher match! I use the session to assess the student's ability in the area of piano technique, playing experience, student's (and parent) goals and objectives in taking music lessons. If the student is interested in taking lessons, then we establish a weekly day and time (usually 30 minutes) and fee for lessons (monthly).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My studio in 100% online. I have a grand piano with two microphones and a micropone for my voice. I also use multiple cameras for views above the keyboard and from the side. Presently I am using Zoom for lesson delivery. I also use a variety of apps including iReal Pro, ForScore, Tenuto and the Theory app. I also use Google drive and docs to take notes during each lesson. I taught music, piano in the public schools for 37 years so I have quite a bit of experience teaching all ages music concepts.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge each student by the month, that is I charge for four lessons per month. If there are five weeks in a month, I usually do not charge for the extra week. If a lesson has to be cancelled, I prefer 24 hours notice, make-up lessons are not a problem. O prefer to be contacted privately by email or text to discuss my pricing policy.
