Music by Marilyn - San Gabriel Area

I enjoy seeing the progress of each student. They are all different in learning. Some learn quickly and others I allow to go at their own pace and keep them in material that they enjoy. They all play in recitals and we love performing duets. Several students have won awards and received scholarships.

Frequently asked questions

I teach the new student the keyboard first, and later the musical staff lines and spaces for treble clef and bass clef. Each one learns at his or her own pace. Some student will grasp faster and some slower. Each one deserves time and patience to go forward in learning this wonderful instrument. I always do duets with them as it keeps the student in perfect time. They thoroughly love duets.

I attend conferences and many seminars to keep up on the techniques and latest material offered from various music companies.

I have standard prices for half hour, $35.00, 45 minutes, $45.00 or hourly rate, $50.00.

My mother was a piano teacher for many years. We used to play duets together along with my own lessons in early elementary. As I explored other interests later in life, I thought this would be a good profession. It still is.

I have had 6 year old children up to 80 year old adults of all different levels of piano. I am teaching children who I taught their parents. I also have a student with learning difficulties who does really well, and have taught him for 18 years.

Musical Theater is always a special event that I enjoy and try to attend many during the year. Sometimes I introduce  a student to one of the shows. They enjoy the production.

It's good for the parent to check several teachers and then make the proper decision. I always tell them not to be afraid or timid to ask as many questions as they like. I'm happy to answer their needs.

How busy is their child with homework, sports, outside activities. Will they be able to put in enough practice on the piano, at least 5 days a week for 30 minutes to make it worthwhile for the student.
