I'm excited to see growth when the knowledge clicks and in a given moment the athlete can correct themselves and make independent decisions separate from a coach or parent using good judgment. Teaching the fundamentals of the game creates a real foundation to improve. Specializing in 1 or 2 skills diminishes your opportunities to develop a well-rounded game. What gives me the most excitement with coaching/ training when a player learns a concept and can apply the learning in a game and make a contribution to the team. 1 on 1 training having the ability to turn each player into a coach on the court where they know everything I know and become a confident leader.
