Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually charge half price for the first lesson as we meet and get to know one another. I assess where a student is in their journey and we take it from there. Student does not need a violin to start as we can work on reading music and theory.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Violin and Voice performance before and during College. I've been in several different orchestras, performed at professional venues and recorded in studios for several different artists and their projects.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 for the first lesson then all lessons after are $70 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching during College, after years and years of training. After college it became my full time job.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked from ages 3-55! I work well with any and everyone.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I most recently composed string parts for one of my students, who released a single that I helped them create and distribute to all platforms just two months ago.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask the teacher what genre they teach. I teach all genres from classical, to fiddle, orchestral, jazz and or free form which encompases singer/songwriter and experimental music.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself what your goals are with learning violin. It's my job to help get you to where you want to go.
