Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I like to get to know if there is any musical background. Getting the feel of why the student is interested in the instrument and the kind of music they would like to play is beneficial to understand before getting started. Then, I begin to understand their level of playing and we go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been classically trained and studied violin from a very young age. I played in many orchestras through grade school, middle school, junior high, highschool, and through my university years. I took lessons for 20 years and then started teaching myself.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge monthly for lessons and the beginning of each month. Lessons are between $50-$60 depending on duration and frequency.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring orchestra students at a local middle school. From there, it was a wonderful domino effect of beginning my private business.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with so many students!
I have worked with as young as 4 yrs old to seniors!
I have also had the luxury to work with a blind student for 6 years! That was an extraordinary experience!
I have worked with very beginning to advanced.
I have taught both online and in person lessons as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
As a teacher, teaching someone without the gift of sight yet with the exceptional gift of hearing was one of the fondest events I can think of. She really learned her instrument and fingerboard like nobody I have ever experienced.
I played for a red carpet event in Malibu and that was a beautiful experience as a performer.
You are never to young or old to start this instrument!
It's not as hard as it seems with my methodology. With my instruction I will break it down so that it's super easy to learn!
