About this pro

I have a very positive and fun approach when teaching beginning to advanced piano students. Students learn how to read music, music theory, composing their own music, ear training and sight reading. I teach classical and contemporary piano to both children and adults.

I have a BA from Sonoma State University where I've taught theory and composition to students entering University level programs. I play professionally accompanying for choirs, schools, and musical functions. I've succesfully taught Certificicate of Merit to students in my studio. I'm a member of MTAC, CAPMT, MTNA.

I love seeing students learn music, each one has so much promise and ability to discover for themselves. That includes composing their own pieces whether it be for audiences or for their own enjoyment. Working with students on an individual level is very fulfilling to me.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I find out what their personal goals are in taking piano, and I  meet those needs. I provide weekly lessons of 30, 45, and one hour in length. I quickly identify the level at which the students should be comfortably working. I add an element of challenge for those who are motivated. I also listen to my students feedback as to how their progress is going.

I developed my studio after graduating. I did a lot of undergraduate teaching which prepared me for building my own studio. I've played and studied piano since age four. Music has been a huge part of my life.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would Pick a teacher that is very talented in their teaching experience, loves music, and is extremely kind and patient to all of their students.
