Old School Karate & Tai Chi
About
I have over 40 years experience in classical and modern martial arts. The teaching methods I use transmit useful and functional techniques that are easy to learn and remember.
I teach for the deep love I have for martial arts, and I especially enjoy sharing all of the benefits that marital arts training has to offer! I love teaching and seeing students "get it" and having that "aha" moment.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initially a phone consultation to learn exactly what they are looking for.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
46 years (and running) martial arts training in classical and modern systems. Black Belts in Japanese Shotokan and Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate. Instructor rank in Filipino Martial Arts and Tai Chi.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depends of the specific needs of the customer.
How did you get started teaching?
Training since I was 4 years old. Got the teaching bug as a teenager. I love sharing the things I have learned. It is what I know and love best!
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages, men, women, and children. All backgrounds.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Shop around. Don't sign any contracts. Ask to watch a class, most instructors will even let you try one for free (at least I do)!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why do you want to learn martial arts? For self-defense? Sport/competition? Exercise? Be clear on what you want and make sure that is what you are being taught. For example, you don't want to train at a sport school when self-defense is what you really want.
