Choosing The Right Dojo Is The #1 Key To Success In You or Your Child's Training
Self defense and martial arts training is one of the best things you can do for yourself or your child. The key ingredient to picking a dojo is this: are they a good fit for YOU?
A good school will be able to customize their program to fit you or your child's needs, goals, age and abilities. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, you want the dojo to be able to fit their program around you, instead of making you fit into what they do. Let’s see how Z-Ultimate is the perfect school for you and your family.
Our Ultimate Kenpo System
Z-Ultimate specializes in age-specific, world-class personalized instruction using our system of Ultimate Kenpo. Our style takes the “best of the best” from Karate, Kung Fu and Jiujitsu and combines them into an Classical – Practical – Tactical method of self defense that is easily adaptable to any body style.
From Karate – a term that groups together most of the Japanese-based “hard” striking styles – we get the linear, power-based stances, footwork and techniques. These styles are known for their simplicity of movement and emphasis on physical strength.
From Kung Fu – a term that literally means, “to be proficient in” and groups together many of the Chinese-based “soft” styles – we get the circular movement, footwork and techniques that avoiding matching power with an opponent. These styles are known for the circular, deflecting movements and techniques and are designed for a smaller person to use against a larger opponent.
From Jiujitsu – a term that groups in the Japanese-based grappling or ground fighting arts – we get the trips, tackles and take downs as well as standing defenses against grabs, chokes and weapon attacks. These styles are also known for joint manipulation – like wrist locks and arm bars – as well as various chokes, strangles, breaks and controlling techniques.
By taking the best from each style and blending them together, you get a system that prepares you to defend yourself in almost any situation, regardless of your size or the size of your opponent. It also allows us to train you in techniques that are the best fit for your body style.
What I enjoy about what we do and teach is the impact it has. Whether it is an adult who has fallen in love with being active again, or a child who learns what it means to have self-respect, confidence, and humility... the change is incredible. At Z-Ultimate we don't just focus on the martial arts, but the person. Our program is designed and catered to fit you as an individual.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we sit down and find out what that person or child is looking to get out of the martial arts. We are private instruction based company, so we gear our lessons around that. Next, we would start the private lesson and focus on what that individual needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been training in the martial arts for 16 years and have been teaching full time for 6 years. I am a certified instructor through the University of Martial Arts Professionals. I currently hold the rank of 2nd degree black belt.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We have multiple options when it comes to programs. After a student's first free private lesson, we would go over each program and find the best fit.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching because of the impact that martial arts had on my life. I started as a kid, and the discipline, humility, and respect it taught me, changed my life. I wanted to be a part of that journey for others. I am passionate about the proven advantages that martial arts gives to people.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with every skill level, age, body type, and limitation. Because we are private instruction based, we can go at a pace to fit each person. We work with students who have developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. We have experience in teaching blind and deaf students, as well as students with cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. We have also trained students diagnosed with autism, as well as kids with ADHD and bipolar disorder. All of our instructors have been professionally trained to help coach and teach such students. We have never met someone that we couldn't train in the martial arts.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When a parent came up to me and said, "Since our daughter has been training with Z-Ultimate, I have never seen her so confident and sure of herself. Z-Ultimate has changed her life."
The student she was talking about has been training with us for the past year and came in very shy and lacked confidence. She could barely look us in the eye. Now she is thriving and doing well in all aspects. That is why I love what we do.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Many martial arts schools out there only have group classes. This isn't bad, however students can be overlooked in a large group of people. At Z-Ultimate we have both group and private instruction to ensure that each student is getting what they need. Make sure if you are finding a teacher, that they are willing to customize a program to fit you. Too many martial arts programs are very cookie cutter, and don't allow for personalized instruction.
