About

My lessons are tailored to the preferences of every student I have. No two lessons look alike. The processes for teaching someone who wants to sing for fun and somone who wants to sing as a career look very different. By establishing an understanding of your needs beforehand, lessons will focus on achieving your specific goals in music. No wasting time on practicing techniques/repertoire that don't interest you. Music only works if passion is within. No point in forcing anyone to sing anything they aren't passionate about.

Helping a person utilize their toolbox of talents to create something beautiful and experiencing their joy in doing so gives me greater joy.

    Frequently asked questions

My teaching style will depend on how committed you, the student, are to studying voice. I have taught people who sing want to sing as a casual hobby, and people who want a professional career in voice performance. I teach all styles ranging from the three basic styles (classical, jazz, and musical theatre) to all the contemporary styles in between. A typical lesson with me will consist of breathing/vocal exercises, technique work, sight-reading/sight-singing practice, performance coaching, and working on differing forms of repertoire, more or less depending on your commitment. Communication with me essential for us to work well together, if you need extra help with something or want to focus on something specific, just be sure to let me know so I can develop a curriculum that works best for you.

I am a voice principal studying at Berklee College of Music for my Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. I am originally from Denver, Colorado and I attended high school at Denver School of the Arts also majoring in voice. I started my music career learning how to play piano and read sheet music at age 7 and then singing, dancing, and acting in musical theatre productions in/outside of school. I started participating school choirs and sang in Rocky Mountain Children's Choir for 3 years where we all toured Washington D.C. and main cities in Germany. I started taking professional voice lessons in 6th grade which truly fueled my passion for being a solo professional singer. I was trained classically, with emphasis on singing foreign languages, opera/aria art songs, and developing healthy techniques. With that, I learned how to sing contemporary styles, leaning towards jazz, r&b/soul, musical theatre, pop, rock, and funk, learning how to be a performer/entertainer and how to find my own unique voice. Mid-high school career, I was accepted into Denver School of the Arts and transferred there for 2 of my 4 years in high school. I auditioned and got accepted into Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory, one for contemporary voice, the other for classical voice. I chose to study contemporary voice at Berklee because of the endless opportunities offered to me there and I'm currently in my second year.

Berklee studio: $40 for 30 min. lesson or $55 for 1 hr. lesson

At your home: $40 + trip charge for 30 min. lesson or $55 + trip charge for 1 hr. lesson

*Pricing can be negotiated under certain circumstances*

I started Catherine's Singing Studio during my first year of college. I got started teaching lessons using the Berklee College of Music facilities and I have been teaching in Denver and in Boston ever since.

I typically work with teens ages 12+ but I also teach little ones and adults.

Find someone who is passionate about teaching music and actively wants to see you grow, not try to change you into someone you're not. It's important to develop a strong connection with your vocal coach so you both are on the same page. Communication is key when it comes to teaching/learning music and is essential to succeeding in the music industry. When you find someone you communicate well with and feel comfortable expressing yourself artistically with them, you have the most beneficial coach/student relationship.

What are your music goals? What styles of music do you like to sing? Who are some of your favorite singers? What kind of singer/musician would you like to be?
