About
I am the newly appointed principal violist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
I have been fortunate to travel the world extensively over the last decade performing with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, and Pacific Symphony Orchestra in many of the world's greatest concert halls across more than 20 countries. Over the last few seasons I have also performed as a guest principal with the Fresno Philharmonic and the Santa Barbara Symphony, and subbed with the LA Phil, San Diego Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, and Colorado Symphony.
I have also had the immense pleasure of recording on a number of television and feature film soundtracks including the most recent Star Wars film, Mulan, Lego Movie 2, Rampage, Creed 2, IT Chapter 2, Raya and the Last Dragon, Jungle Cruise, The Mandalorian, American Dad, The Orville, and more.
I earned a Bachelor's degree in violin performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, and a Master's in viola from the Yale School of Music. While at Yale, my string quartet was the recipient of numerous prizes for chamber music, and was selected by the Dean of the School of Music to represent Yale in London, England, and Brevard, North Carolina on separate occasions.
In my youth I was also an avid jazz musician, a member of the renowned indie-pop ensemble "Mother Falcon", and a frequent guest performer with multi-instrumentalist and World Music phenom, Oliver Rajamani. I believe that my diverse musical background taught me that flexibility and personality are every bit as important as technical expertise and musical creativity.
I have experience teaching at all levels, from beginner string students through the El Sistema USA program in Boston, MA, to intermediate private violin and viola students, to a small studio at Long Beach City College where I was formerly the violin and viola teacher, and professional or pre-professional musicians who come to me for audition coaching.
