About this pro

I am an experienced classical piano teacher/composer located in Middletown CT. I am also a father of four children two of which play piano/clarinet/violin as well. I currently have several openings for piano lessons at my home studio, equipped with teaching materials, full classical music catalog, and recording equipment. My methods are primarily based on those used by Beethoven's pupil, Carl Czerny. Lessons also include music theory, sight-reading, and also relates to today's pop music. References can be provided if requested. Very low rate compared to this area, $22 for half an hour.

My kids have been taking lessons with Mike for over two years and love it! They have improved very much in their playing and in their knowledge of music theory.

Mike is great! He is easy-going and very patient with my children, while presenting them with learning that is both challenging and fun. He is accommodating and kind, and I highly recommend him as an instructor.

My daughter has been taking lessons here for about a year. Mike is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. He goes at her pace and knows when to push her. I highly recommend him for beginners.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been playing classical piano for over 32 years. During my High School years I attended the Greater Hartford Academy of Performing Arts, specializing in Classical Piano. After that, I toured throughout New England with a folk/pop band that largely played my original songs. Currently, I focus on composing and playing classical music, especially from the Romantic Era. I have been giving piano/music theory lessons for years with a patient and customized approach.
