About this pro

Hi, I'm LaTisha Alethea {Allyn or Lylo if it's easier for you :-)} and I am a dance enthusiast. I've been dancing since the age of 2. From tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, pom poms, cheerleading, dance teams, belly dancing, hip hop, choreography, and more, I've been expressing myself through dance for more than 39 years. So, it's no secret that I absolutely love dancing and performing.  When I hear music, I can't help but feel it.

I became a licensed Zumba Instructor and ZIN member in March 2015 through the encouragement and mentorship of my fellow dance enthusiast, Zumba Instructor, and friend, Shanara White.  Shanara offered me the opportunity to teach many times. Initially, I was nervous and concerned, feeling I was stepping on her toes and tried to hold back my enthusiasm while teaching. Then, after substituting for her for several weeks, I realized that by holding back my excitement, I wasn't really doing much for the students who came to have fun nor was allowing myself to fully enjoy the class and the energy from the students. It was in that moment that I remembered that I have an opportunity to do what I love as well as express and share my joy with others.

I'm very excited that I am, now teaching regularly. Every class feels like a party! Come join us and you'll see what I mean. You don't even have to know how to dance. Just move your body and follow my lead. It's easy! Come try it, I guarantee you will have a blast! I look forward to meeting you! <3 <3 <3

ZIN member and certification since 2015; more than 20 years of training and experience in various styles of dance and choreography.

How did you get started teaching?

Please see bio at Latisha77.zumba.com.

What types of students have you worked with?

Beginners and advanced, aging between kids and seniors.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Our latest annual lyme disease fundraiser, Dance the Lyme Away! The fundraiser initially began as a way to help raise funds for a former teacher who suffers with chronic symptoms of lyme disease which affected her well being. Since then, we decided to continue hosting the fundraiser to help bring awareness towards lyme disease and research, especially since some students suffer with the disease.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Be yourself! Don't try to emulate anyone else. Your class or style may not be for everyone and that's okay. Focus on your strengths and remember your passion. You will be the right instructor for the right students.
