ANITA T. PISANO
Director of Talley Middle School Orchestra
Mrs. Anita Pisano, M. Ed. is currently the proud Orchestra Director for Talley Middle School in Brandywine School District and will be teaching, “Pulling Strings: Caught in the Middle” for University of the Arts at Villanova.
For the last 5 years Mrs. Pisano has spent time as the Director of Elementary Orchestras at Lorewood Grove, Cedar Lane, Silver Lake, Brick Mill, Townsend, and Olive B. Loss Schools in the Appoquinimink School District.
She previously served as the Secondary Orchestra Director for The Haverford School in Haverford, PA, and the Secondary Orchestra Director for Brandywine School District for 15 years. Pisano was the sole Orchestra Director of the American Music Abroad Bronze Tour. Traveling throughout Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, and Italy, students performed music for European audiences while learning about their history and culture. She has been an active member of NAfMA, Americans for the Arts, and the American String Teachers Association. Pisano served as the national chair of the CodaBows for America Outreach Program for 2009 and 2010. She has also been on the Executive Board for the Pennsylvania Delaware String Teachers Association where she is the Delaware Representative. Mrs. Pisano Chaired Delaware All-State Orchestra from 2009 to 2013. She was the Co-Chair of Delaware State Music Day in 2012 and chaired for 2014. During her time in high school and middle school she hosted, STRINGFEST, an honors orchestra and professional development each year. Pisano frequently runs clinics including Building String Orchestras, Strings for the Non-String Player, and How to Take an Honest Look at Your Ensemble and Recruiting for every level. Ensuring retention as a string family. She has worked on the Education Advisory Committee for the Music School of Delaware and the Board of the Delaware Chamber Music Festival. Mrs. Pisano sponsored the first American String Teachers Association High/Middle School Student Chapter in Delaware.
I enjoy every part of the learning process! Curiosity- Discovery-Practice-AH HA!!! There is absolute beauty in every step. It is an honor to be able to participate in that process with people.

I love to see what skills a student walks in the door with and then take them through some tips and tricks to hone in on the best tone, dexterity, and repertoire I can.

How did you get started teaching?
I had a fabulous middle school teacher who inspired me, and I have forever wanted to emulate the feeling of belonging I felt in her classroom. She challenged me and helped me grow as a musician. That is where my journey began.
