I am a professional Harpist & Pianist with 45+ yrs experience
and a B. A. in Music Education. I have a great passion for teaching music to students of all ages.
I have recorded 3 harp CD's. and perform regularly for weddings, church orchestra and other special events.
A number of my students play for outside gigs as well.
Most of my students have made Superior ratings at Federation
and have won on the State level.

Teaching music has been a lifelong passion. I enjoy working with each individual student no matter their level of ability to see them become the best musician they can be. I love teaching all types of music including theory, sight reading, proper technic, improvisation and more. I want each student to truly enjoy making music!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
i teach each new student how to read music from the beginning. They also learn how music theory helps them learn to play better. For harp, proper technic is a must and takes time to develop properly. I offer a lot of encouragement along the way and am very patient.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B. A. Degree from the University of South Florida and have maintained an active teaching studio for over 45 years and have been active in Federation of Music Clubs for over 30 years. Most of my students have been awarded Superior ratings and some have won State awards. I give my students wonderful music that keeps them motivated and desiring to move forward.
I perform regularly playing gigs such as weddings, corporate events, church services, parties and much more.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For piano lessons, I offer 30 minute lessons for $30 per lesson and 45 min. Lessons for $45 per lesson.
Harp lessons are for a minimum of 1 hr. Per week at $60/hr.
All lessons are given on a weekly basis for the full month, payable at the beginning of each month.
How did you get started teaching?
In my home studio after I was married. Students came to me through word of mouth and I've never had to advertise much since then. Teaching has always been a passion and I love getting to know each student personally.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all levels of students, some very motivated and gifted and many average students. Many of my students studied with me for long period of time. Some have gone on to study harp in college and some with harp scholarships.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love watching students perform and reach for their highest goals, like seeing them win on the State competition level!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
i would look for a teacher who plays professionally and knows the instrument well foremost; who teaches with passion but firmness, discipline and who is kind, patient and loves children.
Most importantly, whether they feel comfortable with the teacher and feel they can get along well.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should consider if they really desire to learn the instrument and whether they are willing to hang in there with lessons when things get tough. Also whether they can freely open their hearts to say "I don't understand. Can you explain it differently?"
