About

About Madeline Lu

I was born in Santiago de Cuba and began formally studying piano at the age of 7 where I participated in several concerts and competitions. I received a degree of Piano Professor at the Jose White Professional School of Music (Conservatory) in Camaguey, Cuba in 2002. After graduation, I received an acknowledgment for the Best Piano Apprentice Teacher at the Vocational School of the Arts in Santiago de Cuba where I was employed. After immigrating to the United States in December 2003, I decided to continue my professional music education and received a scholarship for the Piano Performance Program at FIU’s School of Music where I obtained a Bachelors of Music Degree in Piano Performance as well as my Master's Degree. I had the privilege of learning under Dr. Jose Lopez’s supervision, who was a student of Dr. Rosalina Sackstein; a former pupil of Claudio Arrau and Isabelle Vengerova. I also was fortunate enough to have lessons from renowned professor and Organist Thomas Schuster.

From 2004 until 2013, I was the Music Director at Holy Rosary-St Richard Catholic Church where I conducted the choirs and performed on piano and organ during the weekly masses, concerts, weddings and other special events. From 2013 to 2015 I was on the faculty at the Miami Conservatory of Music as a Piano Professor. Additionally, since 2004 I have also been providing private piano lessons to students throughout the greater Miami area.

Madeline Lu is a member of the Florida Federation of Music Clubs as well as a Steinway and Sons's Educational Partner.

I really enjoy what I do and I feel blessed to be able to contribute to the student's world rounded education.

My individual piano lessons are a combination of piano performance, theory, ear training and sight reading. I also incorporate additional knowledge of the various composers and different styles and periods of music history. My lessons are very pleasant, and I work hard to teach my students all the skills they need to successfully read sheet music and perform on the piano.

My ultimate teaching goal is to enable my students to find their own unique strengths in music and help to nurture and develop their natural abilities. I want each of my students to learn and love the music that they create and play; feeling proud of their accomplishments.
