What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I personally like to get to know the student's main interests and goals and establish a timeline and a plan to achieve these goals, the student will be able to learn the preferred musical style while following a step by step process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a masters degree in music, I have been a college professor and currently a high school teacher. I have performed concerts and given lessons for over 20 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lesson rate is $30 for half hour and $50 for one hour lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching piano when I was 14 years old, I prepared young students to enter diverse music programs
What types of students have you worked with?
From 5 years old to 75, amateurs and professionals, students with autism, dementiaand with physical disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have witnessed students with autism thrive in music and gain more confidence in theme selves.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
All knowledge of music is important, playing, theory, popular music, classical training, jazz theory.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Is this teacher knowledgeable? What is his approach and experience with different kinds of students?
