When I was younger, my grandmother paid for my piano lessons with a wonderful teacher. At first, I only did it to make her happy and proud of me. As time went on, though, I fell in love with music and piano, specifically. I have never taught piano professionally, however I have been playing for a long time. I have taken part in countless piano recitals as well as participated in a few talent shows and fine arts competitions. I own a beautiful upright piano as well as an electronic keyboard. I dabble some in guitar and currently would love to learn to play the violin and the mandolin. I also spend most of my days singing, whether that be in the car on my way to work or as part of our church choir. If music is important to me, teaching others is even more important. I love spending time with and teaching children. I spent a good part of the last 5 years volunteering in various children's ministries of my church: infant and preschool ministry, children's ministry, and Upward sports ministry. My husband is also a member of the choir and is an aspiring drum player. As you can probably tell, music is a big part of who we are. Our desire is to please the Lord in everything we do, even playing music/singing. So I spent a lot of time explaining my history. I want everyone who reads this profile to understand that while I do not have a professional background in music, I do have a passion and desire for teaching children to play instruments. My goal is not to teach a child to play a song. My goal is to teach piano theory and give lessons that will provide a strong foundation for children's musical futures. I want my students to learn to play any piece of music that they would like! In the future, I hope to add variety to the instruments I will be able to teach.
