How did you get started teaching?
As a freshman in college I was on swimming scholarship and majoring in Physical Education. The school required that everyone take Beginning Swimming. When the Swim Coach realized I was in his Beginning Swimming class he had me teach the class for the rest of the semester. He then had me teach every aquatics class for the next four years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with people of all ages and abilities. My youngest student was 3 months old. I taught the baby to feel comfortable on its back and to glide from parent to parent. My oldest student was 88 years old. He recently moved to Florida and wanted to be able to enjoy is beautiful new pool. Many of my students have a fear of the water. I teach them to feel comfortable and in control while in the water. At the other end of the spectrum, I teach elite athletes how to improve technique and train effectively.

One of my students was so afraid of the water that she had never put her face in the water. Even when taking a shower! Within 45 minutes, she was swimming across the pool.
