About this pro

Hi there, my name is Lisa Hummel, I just relocated from Hanover, PA. I am a certified lifeguard, certified swim instructor and certified as an aquatic fitness instructor. I have worked at the YMCA of North Hanover for almost 3 years. I love it. I had taught people of all ages learn how to swim but mostly taught small children. My 5 year can swim a 25 meter pool when he was 4 years old, tread water and float. I teach children in a manner that they understand, not just by telling them what to do. I teach them basic lifesaving skills right up through learning different stroke techniques.

I love teaching small people and people of any age the proper way on how to have a lifelong important skill. It could save your life one day.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Get to know alittle about each other, if they are brand new to the water we start with water acclamation. Get them use to liking the water and getting their face wet and learn how to blow bubbles out the nose. After that water movement which teaches floating, submerging and getting objects at the bottom of the shallow end.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Certificates through the YMCA.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$30 per half an hour.

How did you get started teaching?

Through the YMCA, I wanted to do something different besides lifeguarding so I tried swim lessons and loved it.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with down syndrome children, autistic children and grown ups that don't know how to properly breathe while freestyle stroke swimming
