About
Hi, there! My name is Janice and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2013 and have loved helping my students learn to play their favorite songs on the piano, pass to the next piano level with a perfect score, and learn how to read music. I love teaching piano; it’s my passion. I look forward to helping you reach your goals! I have a lot of spots open on my schedule so I can accommodate any student as soon as possible. We can start yours or your child’s piano class as soon as today! I would love to be your piano teacher. Classes are private; students will be playing songs on the piano in no time!. They will also be able to learn how to read music. I have been giving piano lessons for 5 years. I have worked with students of all ages. Students will learn how to play piano, but also learn music theory. This is especially great because they will never forget how to play something. They will understand what all the symbols in their music sheet means and will know how to execute them.
Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play basic songs and learn how to read music, and as time goes on you'll be able to play difficult songs from any time period and learn songs you've always wanted to learn. I typically use Bastien Piano Basics books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: piano, practice worksheets, and individual lessons tailored for each student. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to work with you!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the first class I will meet with the parent and student so we can get to know each other. I will also explain how I teach and we will discuss what I expect of the student. All the questions the parent or student asks will be answered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two diplomas: a Piano Diploma and a Music Theory Diploma both from Allegro School of the Art.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I want to make piano classes affordable to all students. Therefore I charge $25 for 30 minutes of class and $45 for a 60 minute class. This is a discount from the typical $75 an hour. I charge monthly and the payment is due the first class of the month.
How did you get started teaching?
My dream has always been to teach. After studying piano and music theory, I had the goal of becoming a piano teacher. A couple of years later, here I am an experienced piano teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with multiple students from all ages. Some have been beginners piano while others were advanced or intermediate.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I started teaching a 69 year old woman a week ago. She found me online, called to ask me about my piano classes and we agreed to meet the following day for her first class. She had taken classes for around 3 months but decided to look for another teacher because she was disappointed with her previous piano teacher for not letting her learn more songs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a piano teacher that has experience in the area not only education. Someone with only basic training but years of teaching experience is better than someone with a masters degree and no experience teaching. Also, I recommend you pick someone that offers affordable prices for the piano lessons.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you willing to book on a regular basis? Are you dedicated to learn how to play the piano? Is the student willing to practice daily? Is the student serious about taking lessons?
