About this pro

If you're struggling with finding the right music teacher, and you want to go from STEP ONE to DONE, without the things you hate (like wasting time, fighting traffic, or not having a dialed-in plan) then you've found the right instructor in me!

Hi!  My name is Doug Sinning and I've been teaching private music lessons most of my life since I was a teenager!  I have a degree in music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, a very well known private music school, where I triple majored in Music Education, Songwriting/Composition, and Music Synthesis.  I have trained thousands of students in music since I moved to central Florida in 1990.

In January 2010 I went exclusively online and I now I train students from around the planet.

I believe in positive reinforcement combined with a firm detailed plan of attack to get the student where they want to go in music.

Not everyone has the same goals in music, and I tailor every lesson towards their desired outcomes to get them to their goal as quickly as possible, without cutting corners and using "shortcuts".  Shortcuts always end up leaving a difficiency in the student in the long run.

In short, I have the map and I make it fun!   :)

I love the moment the student "gets it" and the look and feeling that washes over their faces.  It's golden to me!

I learnt so many things about music that I did not know before. I learnt to control my voice, pronounce clearly, and perform with confidence.

Professional, friendly and fun! I learned a lot and still profit from what I’ve learned.

Prior to working with Doug my musical repertoire was very limited. I did Musical comedy and had trouble with my break, and really couldn't do popular music at all! Doug within a few lessons had me singing Motown and other popular music easily. He made it effortless and fun! He also taught my son as well to do anything from metal to musicals! He is wonderful for all ages and genres of music. You certainly won't be sorry!

Despite my severe anxiety and self-doubt, Doug made me feel comfortable and relaxed from the moment we began working together. Not only did Doug offer a safe, nonjudgmental space in which I could learn, he fostered a confidence in me I never thought possible, a confidence which has had a tremendous effect on my life even to this day. Doug also knows his stuff! I’ve always been astounded how knowledgable and skilled Doug truly is. And to have been his student, to have learned everything I did from him, was truly an honor and a privilege. Whether you’re just beginning your musical journey or you’re looking to further advance your musical knowledge and skills, believe me when I say: My Music Expert is for you. Join me and countless others and learn firsthand what it’s like to be a student of Doug’s. I promise you this: You won’t regret it.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I assess the student during the first lesson and plan out a detailed plan of attack to get them started towards their goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Bachelors of Music from Berklee College of Music.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$100/hour, but occassionally offer sales down to $75/hour.  I charge month to month with no contracts.  I do not need contracts, because students tend not to want to leave me. :)

I have extended my "Spring Sale" into Summer.  You can get my lessons 25% off right now FOREVER ($75/hour) by going here to sign up now:  https://nv197-038a90.pages.infusionsoft.net/?fbclid=IwAR1royzxJFU0d3RwRdInKAlUSd245zHVW71Yy7H6XTljYH8LlilvlVfdq0k

How did you get started teaching?

I taught my first music lessons in piano and voice to adult students when I was only a teenager growing up on the farm in Missouri.  After graduating from college, I began training students in music in Central Florida in 1990 privately at my home.

What types of students have you worked with?

I enjoy training all ages and all levels.

I've taught students as young as 5 and as old as 78, from absolute Beginners to Professional Musicians.

The Professionals would go to work and instantly implement what I was teaching them during their lessons that day at work.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I was the professional musical director of a Pro Musical Show here in Orlando Florida for over a year until the show moved on.  I have directed many musicals around Central Florida.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

1.  Do they teach the style of music you are interested in?

2.  What credentials do they have?

3.  Do they have MANY MANY testimonials and feedback from previous students?

4.  As with any profession or product... remember... you get what you pay for.  There's a reason GREAT instructors charge more.

5.  Make sure YOU have the time to commit and practice.  You will only get out of your lessons what you put into them.  YOU have to do the work assigned to you.  That being said, the instructor should also have the skills to motivate you to practice and make it fun!  :)
