What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Prescription without diagnosis is malpractice. All too often coaches have a cookie cutter approach to skill acquisition and training. Well, that simply does not work in the long run. I like to take the time to ask my clients about their goals and aspirations. Armed with that knowledge, we can make out a plan to help them meet or exceed their expectations. It is important to be professional, but also fun. I will try to make the process enjoyable as well as targeted....let's work together, have success and some fun along the way!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 40 years as a coach at every level. I have been fortunate to work with record breaking athletes in every phase of the sport; from 10 and u National record holders, national teamers and Olympian's as well as world champion masters swimmers. I have presented at many coaches clinics and have done post graduate work in skill acquisition, athlete development and leadership at the University of Queensland

How did you get started teaching?
Honestly, I was using a stint coaching a summer team to get out of sitting on a stand s a summer lifeguard...who knew I would get hooked and am still loving it all to today

I am sways enjoy seeing the look on a swimmers face when they look at the clock and have crushed their goals. I am equally happy when I see a similar look on their family members faces
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that the coach are intimately familiar with the finished product you want. A great learn to swim instructor is not the same as a great coach. We can help design training systems throughout the course of ones career or just help master a breakout. Be sure that your potential coach has the experience, skill set amd knowledge needed to help you succeed. Also, make sure that you click. That is equally important. Best of luck in all your endeavors.
